Candle Carelessness Leads to Devastating Fire in Sihanoukville, No Injuries Reported

Sihanoukville: A devastating fire engulfed a wooden house in Group 11, Village 3, Sangkat No. 3, on the evening of December 23, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m. The blaze completely destroyed the home of Tieng Phoeun, a 43-year-old scavenger.

The fire was attributed to candles left unattended on the wooden floor, igniting the structure measuring 4 meters by 6 meters. Fortunately, emergency responders from the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Department quickly arrived at the scene with two fire trucks, utilizing 4 cubic meters of water to extinguish the flames. 

Remarkably, there were no reported injuries or fatalities from the incident, underscoring the importance of fire safety awareness in the community. Local authorities urge residents to be vigilant when using candles and to explore safer alternatives for lighting.
